YoungBlood wins M32 World Championship in Newport
Miles Julien and his crew, racing under the name YoungBlood, have secured the 2026 M32 World Championship title in Newport. The victory follows a season of growth for the 18-year-old Julien and his international team, which includes tactician Carlos Robles, Bernardo Freitas, Moritz Spitzauer, and Leonard Takahashi.
The championship was decided after a challenging series of races. After a difficult start to the regatta that saw the team drop to fifth place, YoungBlood managed a significant recovery. During the penultimate day of racing, the team utilized heavy wind conditions near Halfway Rock to climb into the championship lead.
In the final race, the team had to overcome an initial lead by Rated X to clinch the title. Julien attributed the win to the team’s long-standing relationships and their ability to remain resilient despite early setbacks and boat issues encountered in previous seasons.
