Younger generations turn to vintage compact cameras over smartphone AI

Younger generations are increasingly turning to vintage compact digital cameras to avoid the artificiality of smartphone photography. Osman Kozan, a camera retailer in Eskişehir with 25 years of experience, reports a significant surge in the second-hand camera market over the last four years.

Kozan attributes this trend to a desire for authenticity. He argues that while modern smartphones use advanced CMOS sensors and artificial intelligence to enhance images, the resulting photos often lack naturalness. In contrast, older devices equipped with Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) sensors are highly sought after for their ability to produce retro, vibrant, and more realistic colors that directly reflect what the eye sees.
