Yousaf Raza Gillani calls for women's equal participation in Pakistan

Acting President of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gillani has emphasized that the nation's democratic strength, economic progress, and social cohesion depend on the equal participation of women in shaping institutions and the economy. Speaking at the Pakistan Women Leadership & Policy Summit 2026, organized by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI), Gillani stated that women's involvement in leadership and decision-making is essential for an inclusive society.

He called for policies that create an enabling environment for women to advance in sectors such as entrepreneurship, employment, education, and technology. Gillani noted that empowering women is a critical driver of national development rather than just a matter of equality. ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood added that women's leadership is a strategic necessity for Pakistan's economic transformation, stressing the need for equal opportunities in policy and technology.
