Youth and women entrepreneurs receive business support in Kenya and South Sudan

In Nyamira County, Kenya, Governor Amos Nyaribo has distributed business toolkits to 178 vocational training graduates to facilitate self-employment. These beneficiaries achieved distinctions in the National Industrial Training Authority examinations. The initiative is part of the 2Jiajiri programme, which has supported over 2,100 trainees through various scholarship models. To bolster these efforts, the county has increased its vocational training infrastructure budget from Sh40 million to Sh50 million.

In South Sudan, Inkomoko has graduated 1,225 entrepreneurs from a six-month business training programme focused on women- and youth-led enterprises. Supported by the Mastercard Foundation and the Swiss Government, the curriculum covered business management, marketing, and investment readiness. To support these new businesses, the Secretary General of the South Sudan National Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture has pledged to advocate for a one-year tax exemption for the graduates.
