Youth Choir and Violinists Win Awards at European Music Competitions
The children’s choir from primary school “Vladimir Nazor” in Križevci, Croatia, performed at the 69th Glazbeni svečanja Hrvatske mladeži in Varaždin on 6 May 2026, earning a silver plaque with 87 points for pieces including Anita Gergorić’s “Pjesma mira” and a Taizé canon. The competition featured 44 school choirs from 11 Croatian counties.
From 30 April to 3 May 2026, the ninth international “Giovani talenti” competition for young violinists was held in Gorica, Italy. Young musicians from Slovenia’s Koper music school and art gymnasium took top honors: Sara Žvokeljs won the A‑category, Vita Baruca the B‑category, Alexander Hajdin the C‑category and Lia Calcina the D‑category, each receiving first‑place scores between 94 and 98 points. The event showcased five age categories evaluated by a five‑member jury led by professor Luisa Sello.
