Youth Councils and Initiatives Mobilize Across Africa and France

Youth organisations in several African countries and France launched or expanded community initiatives in late July 2026. In Burkina Faso, the Dialakorodji Youth Council organised a road‑safety campaign around ongoing works, urging drivers to respect speed limits and cooperate with authorities. The same month, the Zecco communal youth council was formed, appointing Sokbo Sia as its head to represent local young people.

In Mayotte, the municipal youth council is being renewed for the 2026‑2028 term, inviting adolescents aged 12‑15 to apply. In the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Tshuapa province, more than 200 young people participated in a provincial debate on participatory governance, pushing for youth quotas and transparent public management.

Cameroon’s Ministry of Youth and Civic Education launched the 24th "Vacances sans sida" campaign, targeting nine million youths with HIV, tuberculosis and malaria testing and prevention resources. In Guinea, the JCI Conakry Elite held its sixth Meeting Day, a debate and public‑speaking competition aimed at strengthening youth leadership. Meanwhile, in Joinville, Haute‑Marne, France, ADMR leisure centres hosted a medieval‑themed day for over 160 children, promoting local heritage and social interaction.
