Youth employment challenges in Portugal and education initiatives in Bahia
In Portugal, youth unemployment remains a significant challenge despite recent decreases. Many highly educated young professionals face a labor market that does not adequately compensate their academic efforts or provide quality of life. This situation frequently compels skilled individuals to emigrate in search of better wages and professional opportunities abroad.
In Brazil, the Bahia State Secretariat of Education (SEC) is working to strengthen Youth and Adult Education (EJA). The state recently held a seminar to analyze results from the Bahia Education Assessment System (SABE), which evaluates over 120,000 students across 412 municipalities. The initiative aims to use data from Portuguese and Mathematics assessments to improve pedagogical planning and ensure the right to education for those who did not complete their studies earlier in life.
