Youth engagement highlighted in Mexico and Venezuela

Political leaders in Mexico and Venezuela are emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in community and national development.

In Uruapan, Michoacán, Gabriela Molina, an aspirant for the State Coordination for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty, highlighted the significant role of young people in the region. She noted that Michoacán is home to approximately 1.5 million youths, with Uruapan specifically hosting around 108,000 individuals aged 15 to 29. Molina emphasized that these youths are active in the workforce and education, and called for continued support through initiatives like the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice to expand educational opportunities.

In Mérida, Venezuela, the Youth Secretariat of Primero Justicia has called on students and young citizens in the Libertador municipality to overcome apathy and participate in public affairs. Leader Jhericob Araujo urged the youth to register with the National Electoral Council to ensure their voices are heard. The organization has formally requested that the electoral council improve transparency and accessibility by providing clearer information, detailed schedules, and better use of digital platforms to reach student populations.
