Youth engagement initiatives launched in Brunei and Oxford

Various regional initiatives are being launched to increase youth participation in governance and community decision-making.

In Brunei Darussalam, the inaugural Youth Policy Platform (YPP) 2026 has concluded its four-phase program. Developed under the Uniting Youth Voices initiative, the program included observing Legislative Council meetings and participating in a simulated assembly known as the Youth Policy Council Session. Participants engaged in debates and question sessions regarding youth-related issues, with discussions focusing on increasing youth involvement in community development alongside local village and mukim councils.

In the United Kingdom, the Oxford Youth Dialogue Platform is being launched with support from the Oxford City Council’s Youth Transformation Fund. Aimed at individuals aged 11–25, the platform seeks to provide a space for young people from diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas and influence conversations regarding the future of Oxford through workshops, events, and discussions.
