Youth events in Chile and Argentina see varying outcomes

In Vicuña, Chile, the Espacios Amigables Program organized an informative and recreational event at Plaza Gabriela Mistral to commemorate Youth Day. The initiative brought together students from various local schools and institutions to provide information on mental health, sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, and the prevention of alcohol and drug consumption. The event featured collaboration with SENDA Previene Vicuña to reinforce intersectoral prevention efforts.

In Mar del Plata, Argentina, a social media-driven gathering known as “farmear aura” ended in violence at Plaza Mitre. The event, which centered on a trend where participants compete to demonstrate charisma and style, drew hundreds of children, adolescents, and adults. While the gathering began peacefully, it escalated into a confrontation involving stones and bottles after a violent group arrived, disrupting the scheduled activities.
