Youth film festivals launch in Bratislava and Zlín

Regional film festivals for children and youth are active in Central Europe. In Bratislava, the 8th edition of the Cinedu festival has launched at the Edison Filmhub cinema. The program features ten contemporary European films, workshops including AI-driven music video creation, and meetings with creators. Featured works include award-winning titles such as Brendan Canty’s film, which received the Grand Prix at Berlinale 2025, and Slovak productions like ‘Hore je nebo, v doline som ja’ and ‘Potopa’.

In the Czech Republic, the Zlín Film Festival recently concluded its 66th edition. The event saw record attendance with approximately 120,000 visitors and 24,000 spectators in cinemas. The festival hosted 160 delegations and 77 films, featuring notable guests such as Irish actor Aidan Gillen and Czech President Petr Pavel. The edition introduced new zones for informal meetings and professional programs focusing on the film industry and mental health topics.
