Youth football tournaments announced for Solomon Islands and Singapore

The Solomon Islands will host the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship at the National Stadium in Honiara from September 6 to 19. Eight teams will compete for the Oceania title, with the winner and runner-up earning qualification for the 2027 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The Solomon Islands is placed in Group A alongside defending champions New Zealand, Fiji, and a qualifying tournament winner. Group B features Samoa, Tonga, New Caledonia, and Tahiti.

In separate youth football developments, the Singapore Men’s Under-20 National Team is set to begin its AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027 qualifying campaign in Thimphu, Bhutan. Competing in the Development Phase, Singapore is in Group J and will face Bhutan, Macau, and Chinese Taipei. The team has arrived early in Bhutan to acclimatize to the high altitude of Thimphu, which sits at 2,334 metres above sea level.
