Youth in Bitlis undergo MicroROV underwater technology training
The Anadolu Su Altı Araştırmaları ve Sporları Derneği (ASAD) has launched a specialized training program for youth in the Tatvan district of Bitlis. Under the project titled “My Future is Hidden in Lake Van: Underwater Technologies and Career Route for Youth Aged 14-18,” eighteen students from the Seydi Ali Reis Maritime Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School are receiving instruction on MicroROV (remotely operated underwater vehicle) technology.
Supported by the Ministry of Interior's Directorate General for Relations with Civil Society, the program provides both theoretical and practical training. Students are learning the operating principles, usage, and maintenance of unmanned underwater vehicles, as well as industrial diving and underwater breathing systems.
Project Coordinator Dr. Arya Biçen stated that the initiative aims to establish a career path for young people in the field of underwater technology. Following initial practical applications in a swimming pool, the training is scheduled to continue in Lake Van and Nemrut Crater Lake. Expert Prof. Dr. Salih Murat Egi noted that the goal is to train the next generation of underwater pilots.
