Youth initiatives and new political movement emerge in Calabria

In Reggio Calabria, the municipal administration and the Metropolitan City organized the “Reggio guarda avanti” event at the Oreste Granillo Stadium to mark the start of the 2026-2027 school year. The event brought together over 5,000 students, teachers, and families for a day of musical and artistic performances intended to foster a connection between the city and its youth.

Separately, a new political and cultural movement named “Avanti Calabria” has been launched by a group of young students and professionals. Coordinated by Nicola Salerno, the movement aims to address regional issues through concrete proposals. Key priorities for the group include strengthening local healthcare and emergency services, completing the SS106 highway variant, improving regional rail transport, and enhancing the link between education and the labor market.
