Youth initiatives in Italy focus on civic engagement and environmental sustainability
In Italy, two distinct youth-focused initiatives have launched to promote civic engagement and environmental awareness.
In Portomaggiore, five young people have begun an 11-month Regional Civil Service project titled ‘Un impegno Comune – insieme per fare la differenza’. The volunteers will work within municipal structures, specifically at Portoinforma and the local library, to support public services and foster active citizenship. The program aims to provide professional training while strengthening community cohesion.
Meanwhile, in San Giorgio di Gioiosa Marea, Sicily, an Erasmus+ exchange program titled ‘Il tempo sta scadendo’ brought together 30 participants from Italy, Spain, Albania, Serbia, and Hungary. Coordinated by EUducation Italy, the initiative focused on environmental education, sustainability, and climate change. Through workshops and intercultural discussions, the participants addressed shared European challenges such as resource consumption, pollution, and biodiversity loss.
