Youth initiatives promote autonomy and rural visibility

Various regional initiatives are focusing on youth empowerment and social integration. In Montijo, the ‘Un espacio para mi autonomía e independencia’ project, led by Plena Inclusión Montijo, assists young people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The program uses real-world scenarios, such as grocery shopping, cooking, and managing a household in an adapted living space, to help participants build confidence and daily life skills.

In the Conca de Barberà region, the Consell Comarcal de la Conca de Barberà has launched its third edition of a video series aimed at breaking stigmas surrounding rural youth. The project highlights diverse local initiatives—ranging from artisanal crafts to community associations—to demonstrate how young people contribute to the vitality and rooting of rural territories, countering perceptions of depopulation and limited engagement.
