Youth leaders and policymakers discuss digital challenges in Chile and Argentina

The 2026 Youth Future Congress was held in Chile, bringing together over 3,000 participants both in person and via streaming. Under the theme ‘Connect with ideas’, the event addressed challenges facing new generations, including mental health, the future of work, artificial intelligence, and the development of new skills.

Senate President Paulina Núñez opened the event, emphasizing the importance of critical thinking and individual agency in nation-building. The seventh edition of the congress utilized workshops and live podcasts to foster dynamic dialogue between adolescents and experts regarding the role of AI in human development.

In Argentina, the Social Affairs Commission, led by Deputy María Laura Tomé Gámez, met to analyze the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) and digital devices in educational institutions. The meeting included representatives from the Ministry of Education to discuss current regulations and guidelines for pedagogical technology use.

The Commission highlighted the need to address risks associated with digital technology in childhood and adolescence, specifically focusing on grooming, bullying, and cyberbullying. The Ministry of Education will provide further data to help the Commission assess the impact of these issues and evaluate tools for appropriate technology use in schools.
