Youth-led art and climate workshops launched in Italian towns

In the Biellese area of Piedmont, two three‑day workshops ran from 13 to 18 July 2024, bringing together young people aged 15 to 34 to build small, natural‑material installations along the Oropa trail. The events are part of the “Impronte di Pace” project, which unites eight municipalities and is coordinated by Fondazione Pistoletto together with local artists, artisans and NGOs. Participants created “La Tana” and “Il Nido” structures intended as temporary spaces of hospitality in the forest.

In Medicina, Emilia‑Romagna, 27 students from the Istituto Professionale Commerciale presented climate‑responsive ideas for public spaces on 3 June 2024. Their proposals, developed during a lab on the “Città e spazi pubblici a misura di clima” project, target upgrades to the Hub Stazione, Borgo Paglia and the former Mulino Gordini area, emphasizing accessibility, safety, greenery and community use. The broader urban regeneration plan “Tra la via San Vitale e il Canale di Medicina” is funded with about €1.6 million, including €1.25 million from a regional grant and €375 000 from the municipality.
