Youth martial arts competitions held in Italy

Youth martial arts competitions recently concluded in Italy, featuring notable successes in karate and judo.

In karate, 8-year-old Manuel Coco of A. S. D. Free Fighter won the Kata U10 A/R category at the GPG FIJLKAM Grand Prix held in Patti, Messina. Guided by technical director Domenico Cocuzza, Coco’s victory was highlighted as a result of consistent training. Another athlete from the same club, Giuseppe Spoto, also participated in his first Grand Prix experience.

In judo, the Sardegna Trophy took place at PalaConi A in Cagliari. The event drew 302 under-15 athletes from across Italy and over 3,000 spectators. The tournament featured 435 matches and awarded points toward the national ranking list. Piedmont and Sicily led the competition with four victories each. The event, organized by the Fijlkam Regional Committee, serves as a key stepping stone for young judokas aiming for the Italian A1 or A2 Championships.
