Youth mental health services expand in La Rioja and Querétaro

The Instituto Riojano de la Juventud (IRJ) in La Rioja has expanded its free psychological orientation service, ‘Te escucho joven’, to three afternoons per week. The service, which now operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 16:00 to 20:00, is available to residents aged 14 to 35 and their families. Consultations are confidential and can be conducted in person, via telephone, email, or WhatsApp.

In Querétaro, Mexico, the Secretaría de la Juventud del Estado (SEJUVE) reports receiving between 30 and 50 daily requests for psychological support through its chat service. This 24/7 service aims to prevent suicide through early detection of emotional issues, particularly anxiety and stress among high school and university students. SEJUVE has provided over 400,000 services to youth over the last five years and is implementing emotional health brigades and guides across educational institutions to strengthen support networks.
