Youth Mental‑Health Strain Rises with Academic Overload and Excessive Screen Time

Teenagers are experiencing increasing burnout as academic pressures, social expectations, and constant online connectivity leave little room for rest. Symptoms include chronic fatigue, loss of interest in activities, irritability, headaches and sleep problems, which can impair school performance and relationships and may evolve into long‑term anxiety or depression.

At the same time, mental‑health professionals report a surge in young children seeking assessment, with one therapist noting more three‑year‑olds than ever before. The rise is linked to extensive screen exposure, including YouTube, Netflix and video games. Recommendations emphasize limiting screen time to about 30 minutes per day for toddlers and replacing digital content with classic or educational programming to support emotional development.
