Youth Music Competitions Showcase Talent Across Sicily and Puglia

The fourth National Musical Competition “Città di Avola” attracted hundreds of young musicians from Sicily and other Italian regions to the Teatro Garibaldi in Avola. Organized by the municipality and the Hybla Mousikè association, the three‑day event featured pianists, singers, orchestras, choirs and other categories, and was praised by Mayor Rossana Cannata as an investment in youth culture and education.

The youth orchestra “Gallo” of the Istituto Comprensivo “Gallo‑Positano” won the absolute first prize at the International Competition “Città di Maruggio”, achieving a perfect score of 100/100. The contest involved twelve schools from Puglia, Campania and Sicily, and judges highlighted the ensemble’s technical preparation, execution quality and repertoire choice.
