Youth organizations address drug prevention and Francophonie policy
In Bondoukou, Côte d’Ivoire, the Jeune Chambre Internationale (JCI) held an awareness session to warn youth against drug consumption and trafficking. Police Commissioner Koné Mamadou, representing the public prosecutor, highlighted the detrimental effects of narcotics on health, education, and professional integration. He also addressed concerns regarding transnational drug trafficking and encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities, promising confidentiality for informants.
Meanwhile, in Lomé, Togo, members of the International Youth Network of La Francophonie (RIJF) concluded a two-day workshop supported by the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). Participants from various Francophone regions, including Quebec, Cameroon, and Lebanon, adopted a set of recommendations to be presented at the upcoming XX Francophonie Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The discussions focused on the link between employment opportunities and social stability, as well as the importance of involving youth in the policy-making processes that affect them.
