Youth organizations in Cuba focus on economic and social development
In Granma, youth members of the Empresa Porcina Granma met to analyze work projections and establish a new base committee for the Union of Communist Youth (UJC). The company is currently working to gradually recover pig populations and increase pork production to meet social demands and improve local supply. Key strategies include securing animal feed, protecting breeding stock, and strengthening ties with agricultural cooperatives. To reduce reliance on imported raw materials, the entity is promoting the planting of corn and other crops for feed production.
In Camagüey, Meyvis Estévez Echevarría, first secretary of the National Committee of the UJC, emphasized the importance of strengthening the Community Youth Network and perfecting cadre policies. During her visit, she discussed the role of leadership in implementing economic and social transformations. The provincial UJC structure currently includes over 19,000 members organized across more than 1,900 base organizations.
