Youth organizations in Peru present policy agendas to candidates

Youth organizations across Peru are presenting formal agendas to political candidates ahead of upcoming elections to demand concrete policy commitments.

In Juliaca, over 5,000 young people from more than 15 organizations are presenting the ‘Agenda Joven’ to candidates for the San Román provincial mayoralty. The proposal covers four dimensions and seven thematic axes, addressing issues such as citizen security, health, employment, and student dropout rates. Key demands include the creation of a ‘Casa de la Juventud’ to support youth leadership and the implementation of job opportunities and competitive projects for youth organizations.

Similarly, in Ayacucho, youth representatives from 11 provinces are demanding dedicated budgets, employment opportunities, and training. They are calling for real participation in regional and municipal decision-making processes, questioning whether candidates will translate their proposals into actionable policies for urban, provincial, and rural youth.
