Youth protests planned across Bavaria for Halloween

The initiative ‘Gen-Z regelt’ has organized demonstrations across several Bavarian cities, including Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Ulm, and Rosenheim, scheduled for October 31. The protests aim to advocate for education, healthcare, climate protection, and affordable living, while opposing compulsory military service and austerity measures.

In Munich, approximately 2,500 people have registered to demonstrate at Geschwister-Scholl-Platz, while Nuremberg expects nearly 1,400 participants. Organizers have emphasized that the protests are intended to be peaceful, expressing solidarity with recent demonstrations in France, Spain, Belgium, and Italy but explicitly stating that violence against people or property contradicts their values.

Despite these assurances, Bavarian authorities are taking precautions. Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann noted online calls for violence and stated that police will intervene decisively. Justice Minister Josef Schmid also announced that prosecutors will be placed on special alert to prevent any illegal activities or incitement to violence.
