Youth sports competitions conclude in Saga and Chiba

Various youth sports competitions concluded on August 30, 2026, in Japan.

In Saga Prefecture, the Niihiyama Shonen baseball team won the 31st Yoshinogari Newspaper Cup. In a dramatic final at Mitagawa Chuo Park Baseball Field, Niihiyama Shonen defeated Omachi Shonen with a 10-9 walk-off victory. Takehiro Nagao secured the win with a two-run RBI hit in the bottom of the sixth inning.

In Chiba Prefecture, the 7th NAMINORI Koshien surfing competition took place at Tsurugasaki Beach. Taichi Ishiyama of Tokai University Bousei High School claimed victory in the high school boys' category following a late-session comeback. Other winners included Rio Urayama in the junior high boys' class, Yumi Munemasa in the junior high and high school girls' class, Mauna Fujimoto in the elementary boys' class, and Konami Oe in the elementary girls' class.
