Youth sports initiatives promote active lifestyles in Sibiu and Cărpineni

Various youth-focused sporting events have been organized to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among children in Sibiu and Cărpineni.

In Sibiu, CSU Sibiu hosted the ‘Creștem prin mișcare’ (Growing through movement) activity at the CSU Hall from October 19–23, 2026. Part of the ‘Școala Altfel’ and ‘Săptămâna Verde’ educational programs, the event brought together approximately 340 primary school students from several local institutions, including Octavian Goga National College and Constantin Noica Theoretical High School. Through basketball-focused games, relays, and age-appropriate exercises, coaches aimed to introduce children to the sport while emphasizing teamwork and fair play.

In Cărpineni, Moldova, the Rural Challenge 2026 event saw over 100 children participate in running races through the village streets. The program, which aims to reach over 700 young people across seven localities in Moldova, offered age-adapted distances: 800 meters for primary students and 3 kilometers for older participants. The initiative seeks to reduce barriers to sports access in rural communities, providing participants with medals and t-shirts to encourage physical fitness and community spirit.
