Youth sports initiatives promote inclusivity in Belgium

Youth sports initiatives in Belgium are emphasizing inclusivity and physical activity through various local events. In Brugge, the Urban Youth Games brought together 745 students at Sportcentrum Daverlo. The event included 80 children from special education schools participating alongside peers from mainstream education to try various activities such as football, skateboarding, and torbal.

This edition of the Urban Youth Games featured a new partnership with the Club Brugge Foundation, which supported football activities and G-football. The city of Brugge has extended its cooperation with the Urban Youth Games through 2031. Other participants included ambassadors from Special Olympics Belgium and rowing bronze medalist Tibo Vyvey.

In Bavegem, the Klim-Op primary school held a ‘Show your sports club at school’ day. Students dressed in outfits from their favorite sports, representing over 15 different disciplines. The school continues to prioritize movement by integrating active learning into classrooms and participating in monthly MOEV sports activities.
