Youth Theatre of Vietnam debuts successful literary play
The Youth Theatre of Vietnam in Hanoi has launched the play ‘Nguyen Du-Ho Xuan Huong Ngoai Truyen’, which has seen consistent sold-out performances. The production draws inspiration from anecdotes regarding the meeting of two prominent figures in Vietnamese literature, creating a stylized space set during a moonlit night at West Lake.
Founded by Artist Phuong Tien Minh, the production aims to integrate romanticism and visual effects into spoken drama, moving beyond simple psychological realism. The play utilizes music, light, and body language to explore themes of love, fate, and social reflection. The stage design, created by People's Artist Doan Bang, uses symbolic elements like lotus ponds and mist to enhance the atmosphere. Due to positive audience reception, the production plans to maintain a schedule of 30 performances.
