YouTube Canada announces new creator series including ‘Subway Takes’ in Toronto

YouTube Canada has announced a new slate of creator-driven programming, headlined by a Canadian version of the viral series ‘Subway Takes’. Hosted by comedian Kareem Rahma, the show will move from the New York City subway to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) system to interview local creatives and celebrity guests.

In addition to ‘Subway Takes Toronto’, the upcoming lineup includes several projects from prominent Canadian personalities. Olympic figure skater Tessa Virtue will launch a video podcast titled ‘Virtuoso’, while chef Susur Lee and his son Jet Bent-Lee are set to host a trends-focused food show. Other announced content includes a reality series from comedian Jeenie Weenie and programming from Matty Matheson.

Nicole Bell, head of YouTube Canada, stated that the initiative aims to invest in homegrown creative entrepreneurs and provide Canadian storytellers with opportunities to connect directly with their audiences.
