YouTube Exec: Connected TV Beats Mobile in US, Latin America
Juan Pablo Robert, head of Media & Entertainment for YouTube Hispanoamérica, told the SIPConnect forum in Miami that connected television (CTV) is now surpassing mobile phones as the primary device for video consumption in the United States and many Latin American markets. He said CTV reaches 88 % of the audience in the U.S. and 60 % across Latin America. In the United States, YouTube holds the largest CTV market share at 12.9 %, ahead of Netflix (8 %) and Prime Video (3.8 %).
Robert highlighted a 40 % rise in net YouTube subscribers on TV, noting that 30 % of daily YouTube viewers watch live content and that Shorts generate about 200 billion daily views. Over the past four years the platform has paid roughly $100 billion to creators, artists and companies. Podcast consumption on YouTube has grown 75 % annually, now delivering 700 billion hours per month, with 30 % of podcast listeners watching video‑based podcasts.
