YouTube launches Premium Lite subscription in the Netherlands

YouTube has launched its Premium Lite subscription tier in the Netherlands. Priced at 8.99 euros per month, the plan is approximately 44 percent cheaper than the standard YouTube Premium subscription, which costs 15.99 euros per month.

The Lite tier is designed primarily to reduce advertisements, offering fewer ads during video playback. However, it includes several limitations compared to the full Premium service. Users may still encounter advertisements while browsing or searching on YouTube, and ads remain present within the YouTube Music service.

Additional restrictions include the inability to play all videos in high quality, the lack of a queue feature, and limitations on background playback and video downloads for offline viewing. A one-month free trial is currently available for new users.
