YouTube launches Shopping affiliate program in France

YouTube has officially launched its Shopping affiliate program in France, a move announced during the YouTube Festival in Paris. The feature allows eligible creators to tag products directly within long-form videos, Shorts, and live streams, enabling viewers to access product information and purchase items with a single click.

The rollout follows successful implementations in the United States and the United Kingdom. Globally, the program has seen rapid growth; sales value generated through YouTube Shopping increased thirteenfold between Q1 2024 and Q1 2026, while creator revenues from the initiative doubled in a single year. Internal data suggests that embedded shopping tools can increase clicks by up to 110% compared to standard links in video descriptions.

While YouTube facilitates product discovery and provides the interface, the platform does not manage financial transactions directly, leaving logistics and payments to partner merchants. To support this ecosystem, Google is integrating artificial intelligence tools to automate product identification on screen, optimized for various devices including smart televisions.
