YouTube Premium price hikes raise US and Turkish subscription costs
YouTube announced a global increase in Premium subscription fees, the first major price change in three years. In the United States the monthly individual plan rose from $13.99 to $15.99, the family plan from $22.99 to $26.99, and the annual individual plan from $139.99 to $159.99. The newer Premium Lite tier also increased to $8.99 per month. The adjustment applies across North America, Europe, Asia‑Pacific and the Middle East.
Existing subscribers will see the new rates phased in over several billing cycles, while new users are charged the higher price immediately. In Turkey the current rates are 79.99 TL for an individual plan and 159.99 TL for a family plan; analysts expect a similar rise there due to currency fluctuations and rising operational costs. YouTube says the hikes are needed to sustain platform quality, support creators and fund new features such as Auto Speed and On‑the‑go Mode.
