YouTube removes popular ASMR channels over sexual content policy
YouTube terminated several long‑standing ASMR channels after determining that they linked to material prohibited under its nudity and sexual‑content rules. The affected creators, including ItsBunniiASMR, Slight Sounds, Nananightray, Roseasmr, Simoneasmr and Janina Wilhelmsen, received notices stating “severe or repeated violations” of the policy. ItsBunniiASMR alone had about 227,000 subscribers and more than 55 million cumulative views.
Creators say they received little or no warning and that the removals have immediate financial consequences, eliminating advertising revenue, sponsorships and a primary distribution platform built over years. YouTube’s spokesperson said the action was based on external links that violated the policy and that it does not represent a new campaign targeting ASMR.
The enforcement follows earlier instances in which the platform has taken action against ASMR content deemed “sexually gratifying,” prompting ongoing concerns among creators about the consistency of moderation on the service.
