YouTuber sparks controversy after traveling to Afghanistan with young children
A Japanese YouTuber known as ‘Dokonjo Yuri no Boshi Tabi’ has sparked significant controversy after reporting her arrival in Afghanistan with her two children, aged 3 and 5. The creator, who aims to visit 196 countries, shared her experiences on social media, describing the atmosphere in Kabul as peaceful and the local people as kind.
However, the trip has drawn intense criticism because the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a Level 4 travel advisory for all of Afghanistan, which is the highest warning level. This advisory urges citizens to ‘evacuate’ and ‘stop traveling’ due to risks of terrorism, crime, and political instability under Taliban rule. When commenters pointed out the official safety warnings, the YouTuber responded by stating, ‘The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not reliable,’ a comment that has further fueled public backlash.
This is not the first time the creator has faced scrutiny regarding the safety of her children during her travels. She previously faced significant online criticism during a trip to South America in early 2026, which led to a temporary hiatus from social media.
