Yoweri Museveni marks 82nd birthday with memorial service

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni marked his 82nd birthday on Tuesday with an ecumenical prayer service held at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Office of the National Chairman in Kyambogo, Kampala. The event, themed ‘Spiritual Revival of the Fallen Warriors’, served to honor both the President and the memory of those who died during Uganda’s liberation struggle.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja represented the President at the gathering, which included religious leaders, NRA liberation war veterans, and the families of fallen combatants. During the event, descendants of deceased veterans expressed significant grievances regarding their current economic hardships. Participants, including the children of former commanders, described living in destitution and requested government assistance, noting that many feel neglected despite their historical sacrifices during the 1981–1986 struggle.
