Turkey Ministry of National Education introduces new exam system
The Turkish Ministry of National Education (MEB) has introduced the Common Written Exam System (OYSS) to standardize assessment processes in middle and high schools. The system is designed to transition from result-oriented grading to a process-oriented, developmental approach, emphasizing analytical and critical thinking through open-ended questions.
Scheduled to begin in the first term of the 2026-2027 academic year, the system will cover 16 different branches. Teachers will be responsible for preparing two questions based on specific subject distributions, while the remaining questions will be automatically selected from a Ministry-curated question pool. The platform, accessible via the EBA system, will provide detailed analysis modules to help students and parents track academic development through qualitative reports rather than just numerical grades.
