The Yozgat Governor's Office has issued a warning to pet dog owners regarding mandatory registration, rabies vaccinations, and microchipping. These measures are intended to ensure animal safety and protect public health.

Owners must apply to Provincial or District Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry to pay for microchips, passports, and rabies vaccinations. Dogs up to six months of age will be registered and vaccinated upon application.

Failure to comply with these regulations will result in significant penalties. Owners of dogs older than six months who have not registered their pets face an administrative fine of 10,423 TL. Under Animal Protection Law No. 5199, abandoning a pet carries a fine of 108,370 TL. Additionally, releasing animals in a manner that threatens the health or safety of others may lead to up to six months of imprisonment and judicial fines under Article 177 of the Turkish Penal Code.
