Medical developments and legal disputes reported across Turkey
Several notable medical cases have been reported in Turkey, ranging from rare clinical occurrences to legal disputes.
In Zonguldak, a 52-year-old woman survived a one-in-a-million event where severe coughing fits caused by pneumonia led to the spontaneous rupture of her right main heart artery. Doctors successfully stabilized her using a stent. Separately, a 35-year-old woman, Havva Göktaş, has initiated legal action against a private hospital in Zonguldak, alleging that a herniated disc surgery resulted in severe nerve damage and loss of movement in her left foot.
In Adana, surgeons successfully removed a rare 5-centimeter rectal tumor from a 14-year-old girl using the ‘Kraske’ surgical technique to preserve surrounding tissues. Additionally, in Konya, a woman who had previously lost six babies due to blood incompatibility successfully gave birth to a healthy second child following specialized in-utero blood transfusions.
In Yozgat, a woman reported overcoming both thyroid and colon cancer through successful surgical interventions and chemotherapy treatments.
