Yozgat producer reports increased honey yields near hemp fields

A producer in Yozgat, Turkey, has reported significant increases in honey yield after placing beehives adjacent to a 13-decare hemp field. The producer, Şahin, claims that for the past two years, he has not used medication on his bees, specifically noting the absence of Varroa mites, which may be linked to the presence of hemp.

Following these observations, Yozgat Bozok University has initiated a scientific investigation. The university's Hemp Institute will analyze the honey to determine its chemical composition and investigate the potential impact of hemp on bee health. If the results are positive, the producer intends to pursue official registration for the hemp-derived honey.
