Yozgat's Musabeyli Dam Reaches Over 50% Capacity After Ten Years

The Musabeyli Cemil Çiçek Dam, which supplies drinking water to Yozgat, Turkey, has risen above the 50 % capacity mark for the first time since its completion in 2015‑2016. Recent winter rains lifted the water level to about 53‑54 % and current measurements show the reservoir at roughly 51 % full, the highest level in a decade.

Mayor Kazım Arslan said the rise eliminates any short‑term drinking‑water shortage for the city and noted that the nearby Kirazlı Pond is now operating at full (100 %) capacity. He recalled that the dam had previously dropped to near‑zero in December 2022 due to severe drought, and expressed optimism that continued autumn and winter precipitation will further increase storage.

Local officials plan to monitor usage and maintain a balance between consumption and irrigation releases, aiming to strengthen water security for Yozgat’s residents.
