YPFB conducts geological surveys in Bolivia's Subandino Norte

Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) has conducted two surface geological survey campaigns in the Lliquimuni and El Pelado areas, located in the Subandino Norte region of Bolivia. These efforts aim to strengthen the evaluation of hydrocarbon potential and generate technical data for future exploratory activities in the Non-Traditional Hydrocarbon Zone.

The surveys are designed to enhance stratigraphic and structural knowledge of the area, update geological maps, and identify potential access routes for future well drilling. The work was carried out jointly by YPFB headquarters and its subsidiary, YPFB Andina S.A.

Jorge Ríos Urquidi, YPFB Vice President of Administration, Contracts, and Oversight, described the initiative as exploratory frontier work. Currently, both YPFB Andina S.A. and YPFB Chaco S.A. are involved in Initial Exploratory Projects (PIE) and development activities within the Lliquimuni area and the broader Subandino Norte region.
