YS Jagan Mohan Reddy pledges legal aid to farmers in land dispute
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, President of the YSRCP and former Chief Minister, has pledged legal assistance to farmers from Lankapalli village in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The farmers are involved in a dispute concerning approximately 600 acres of ‘Lanka lands’ (river island lands).
The farmers claim their families have cultivated these lands since 1952 but allege their rights are being ignored. They have accused local TDP leaders and revenue officials of issuing pattadar passbooks to TDP members and their associates. Specifically, they alleged that Pamidimukkala Tahsildar K. Naveen Kumar oversaw the process.
Former MLA Kaile Anil Kumar stated that approximately 350 acres of SC Society Lanka lands are being targeted through resurveys and forged documents. The YSRCP has indicated it will seek a judicial inquiry and approach the courts to cancel what they describe as illegal passbooks.
