Students celebrate GCSE and vocational exam results
Students across the United Kingdom and international curriculum schools are celebrating GCSE and vocational qualification results. In England, overall pass rates have remained relatively stable, with a slight increase in entries achieving grade 7 or above to 23.1% and grade 4 or above to 70.7%. However, data indicates a decline in pass rates for core subjects such as English language and mathematics.
Individual schools and educational groups have reported significant successes. GEMS Education reported that 30% of its students achieved grades 9-8/A*, outperforming the English national average. In Wales, Ceredigion schools showed high performance, with 97% of WJEC entries achieving grades A*-G.
Industry experts have raised concerns regarding the declining number of students entering technical subjects like Computing and Engineering, noting potential long-term impacts on manufacturing skills shortages. Meanwhile, vocational providers like Cambridge OCR emphasized the importance of technical awards in providing essential skills for the modern workforce.
