YSR Congress prepares strategy for Andhra Pradesh local elections

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, leader of the YSR Congress Party (YCP), has initiated strategic planning for the upcoming local body elections in Andhra Pradesh. To ensure party stability and prevent defections to the ruling coalition, the party is considering fielding family members of current MLAs and constituency in-charges as candidates.

Reports indicate that Jagan Mohan Reddy has held meetings with district leaders to discuss candidate selection based on social equations and reservation requirements. A key part of the strategy involves providing second chances to mayors and chairpersons who previously lost their positions due to no-confidence motions.

To mitigate the risk of candidates abandoning the party mid-election, the leadership is prioritizing loyalists and those with deep-rooted ties to the party hierarchy. Additionally, the party is addressing concerns regarding caste certificate issues that have hindered some potential candidates.
