YSR Kadapa implements SMART Kitchens for school meal delivery

The YSR Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh is implementing the SMART Kitchen Initiative to modernize school meal delivery for nearly 100,000 children daily. Operating under the Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks Programmes, the initiative utilizes 38 SMART Kitchens to provide nutritious meals through a centralized and mechanized cooking system.

The program integrates several technological and logistical advancements, including 105 optimized delivery routes and 95 dedicated vehicles. To ensure transparency and food safety, the system employs GPS-enabled transportation, real-time monitoring dashboards, and QR-based feedback mechanisms.

Sustainability is a core component of the model, which incorporates solar energy, electric mobility, and energy-efficient systems. Additionally, the initiative uses bio-digester-based waste management to handle kitchen waste responsibly.
