YSRCP accuses Andhra Pradesh government of election malpractices

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has accused the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh of undermining the local body election process through various malpractices. Former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy alleged that the administration is using official machinery to obstruct opposition candidates.

Specific allegations include the prevention of candidates from filing nomination papers, the physical snatching or destruction of documents by goons, and the arbitrary rejection of nominations by Returning Officers. The YSRCP also claimed that candidates and active leaders are facing threats and arrests.

Reddy stated that these actions persist despite directives from the Supreme Court. The party indicated it is exploring all legal and political avenues to contest these issues while maintaining its commitment to participate in the polls.
