YSRCP leaders allege election collusion in Andhra Pradesh
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders, including MP Maddila Gurumoorthy and former minister Gudivada Amarnath, have alleged that police and election officials in Andhra Pradesh are colluding with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders to influence local body elections.
Gurumoorthy claimed an ‘election mafia’ is operating a money scam where approximately Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh is collected from each TDP candidate to secure uncontested victories. He alleged that TDP leaders have physically attacked YSRCP candidates and obstructed the filing of nominations, while police and election officials allegedly facilitated these actions by rejecting opposition papers on technical grounds.
The YSRCP leaders have called on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to address the allegations of violence and corruption, and have urged the State Election Commission to launch an independent investigation into the reported money trail and official misconduct.
